This photograph was taken on a chilly autumn morning in Yosemite, when the air was heavy with mist and the forest felt hushed. As I walked near the campground, my eyes were immediately drawn to a single small tree standing among the tall, dark pines.
Though it was the smallest presence in the landscape, its orange leaves glowed softly through the fog, as if the forest had lit a candle. Surrounded by giants, it remained the most striking element in the scene, quiet, fragile, yet full of quiet strength.
