Mount Fuji has long been the most iconic symbol of Japan, a presence deeply tied to its culture and spirit. Beautiful in every season, it draws photographers from around the world.
On a clear autumn day in 2022, I captured this view at Lake Kawaguchi. Red maple leaves framed the mountain like a painting, while an old wooden pier rested quietly by the water. The pier has since collapsed and disappeared, but Mt.Fuji still stands.
Yet the Japanese often remind us that even this familiar shape is not eternal, Mt.Fuji is an active volcano, silent for now but capable of changing at any time.
