After hours of walking along the railway, carrying our backpacks and the company of two Peruvian friends, we finally reached Machu Picchu.

The story behind

This photograph captures Machu Picchu, one of the world’s true wonders, but it also holds the memory of the journey that led to it. We chose the longest route from Cusco, walking more than three hours along the railway with our backpacks and two Peruvian friends we had just met on the bus. The road was long, but the anticipation carried us forward.

When Machu Picchu finally appeared before me, I was genuinely moved. It felt impossible to comprehend how the Inca had shaped massive stones atop these mountains, building an entire city suspended between earth and sky. Touching the ancient walls, I felt both the gentleness and the immense power of history, the kind of power no one can resist or erase.

Machu Picchu is more than stone and terraces. It is a testament to human brilliance, perseverance, and an understanding of the world far beyond its time.
Standing there, I understood why this place is a wonder of the world. It feels eternal.
